Hot Stone Therapy

Thermal therapy, as the name suggests, combine the benefits of massage with the careful application of heat.
The Bath House is pleased to offer Hot Stone Therapy as another way for our clients to experience the healing benefits of massage.

Hot Stone Therapy involves the use of basalt rocks for thermal stimulus. Heated stones of various shapes and sizes are used. Hot Stone massage practitioners keep the hot, black stones warm (140 degrees) in the healing spring water of Berkeley Springs. The stones are used to address different healing aspects. The actual placement of the stones is done in rhythm with the client's breathing pattern and a sheet or towel is used against the body to prevent the risk of burn.

The massage itself can involve a variety of treatments including deep tissue, Craniosacral and/or basic Swedish. Each stone has role in the session; some are meant more for trigger point work, others focus on balancing energy.

Deep tissue massage can be one of the most therapeutic and healing massages. Although not as rhythmic as other massage types, deep tissue massage interacts the most with the body's muscles and muscle groups
 
Craniosacral (75 minutes) - $105
A gentle, hands-on approach to bodywork. Craniosacral massage employs a very light touch (only the pressure of a nickel) and achieves excellent results. The client can remain fully clothed during the craniosacral session. The massage deals with the bones of the head, spinal column, sacrum and the underlying structures. The main objective of this work is to find restrictions and/or compression in these areas and use specifically designed techniques to release them.

Thai Yoga Massage (75 minutes) - $105
Performed on a mat on the floor with the client comfortably clothed, Thai Yoga Massage uses two primary procedures:

- The first of these applies pressure to acupressure points and sen (energy) lines, to stimulate the energy body and internal organs

- The second utilizes a large number of passive movements to open and balance the muscular-skeletal structure and
to release blockage and restriction

Russian Massage (75 minutes) - $105
Our Russian massage integrates sport massage with the relaxing techniques of therapeutic massage. The Russian massage may offer relief for those suffering from an injury, have an illness, or just want to promote general well-being.
The massage has many benefits; some of these include: increased blood and lymphatic flow, promotes healing of acute injuries, therapeutic effects and treatment of chronic medical conditions and an overall state of relaxation. The application of techniques will differ from person to person and the depth of the pressure ranges from light, medium, to deep

TMJ Therapy is great for migraines, headaches, and pain in the jaw, head, and neck from dentistry work, teeth grinding, accidents or stress. Specific work is done to relieve tension and spasm in the muscles relating to the jaw
and the temporal mandibular joint
